Why do Mineral Dealers need to use the Online Mining Cadastre?
The new Mining Act stipulates that a person cannot engage in mineral dealing without a mineral license or Permit. The application for this license/permit along with the application fee is done via Online Cadastre system, which is the official information management tool for the Ministry of Mining (MOM) . The holder of the mineral dealer’s license needs to keep a register of mineral dealing, which has to be uploaded and submitted to the Cabinet Secretary (CS), via the online Portal.
How do I register?
This information can be found on the registration page, under the ‘Help and FAQ’ section on the Mining Cadastre Portal home page. There are also link that take you directly onto the page that allows you to create an account.
How long will my dealer’s license be valid?
A mineral dealer’s licence shall expire on the thirty-first day of December of the year in which it is issued.
How do I renew my Dealer’s Licence or Permit?
Like the intial application, this has to be done via the Mining Cadastre Portal. This renewal application needs to be completed by no later than the 30th November of that licence year. When reviewing you licence on the Online Mining Cadastre Portal, there will be a renewal application link at the bottom, which will take you onto the appropriate page, to do so.
